Plants are attached to into the ground; not emotionally attached. If they can feel it, who gives a shit. They're plants. No plants, no working society. End of story

Well the jellyfish doesn't have a brain or a central nervous system.

Is it possible that the plant as a whole doesn't feel pain but that the cells around the cut/burn/etc... do, and the chimicals these cells release could stress the rest of the plants cells?

did you know that th most commonly eaten veggie for toddlers is the French fry?

Thats from some epa commercial...if they were smart they'd realize that French fry's aren't veggies, but they are made out of one, a potato, so potatoes are the most commonly eaten veggie by toddlers.

This is why i don't respect the epa

And of course a veggie is a plant...i hope you were joking.
And I think it might hurt to get uprooted.

Have you even bothered to read anything that I or anyone else in agreement with me has been saying?

Excuse me, if plants did feel pain, we would all be murderers. So I doubt Jesus would make plants feel pain, well, if you believe in god anyways.

Boruch Hashem. Bart. Plants have completely different mechanisms of reaction to any other complex life form.

It can, however, be said that while we cannot know what plants feel, it is certain they can feel something, as I pointed out previously when any plant (particularly a root vegetable) is compromised, its reaction is to secrete a certain chemical, a "panic button", if you will.

If you'd been reading everyone's posts and thinking logically for once, you'd be aware of this.

Also please refrain from bringing creationism into this debate. >.>

It's my debate thread and I give them permission to bring up anything they want to as long as they can back it up with concrete evidence and relate it to the topic at hand.

With all due respect.

Ok.. this isn't a debate, it's a question. That can be found through google, and in your brains. Like most people have been saying, pain is a part of the nervous system, which you can't have without a brain. Seeing as plants have no brains, that means they have no nervous system. Which means they do not feel pain. Like I said, this is a question, not a debate. And there is the answer.

I agree with you, but the debate section was pretty much dead and I wanted to jump-start it a little, so I made this thread.

I like to get people to think.

And this is a debate.
