PostSubject: what constitutes a "bump"   Sat Sep 11, 2010 3:02 pm

Well basically I want to know your opinion on what constitutes a "bump".

do you think that a bump should be based on how long ago the last post was and if so how big of a difference is acceptable?

or

Do you think that a bump should be based on how far away a topic was from the top of the forum and if so how far down before posting on it is an issue

or

do you think that it should be a combination of the two, like if somebody posted on something 5 minutes ago, but its at the bottom of the forum, than you should be able to post on it, and if something hasn't been posted on in a year but its only the second thread down from the top (i dont see how this would happen on this site but still) you should still be able to post on it?

or

That bumping is perfectly fine and every body should be able too.

-------------------------

also, do you think that thier is ever a good time to "bump" a thread back to the top of a forum? if so explain.

I think that it should be what it originally was (before time had anything to do with it), where if the topic was no longer relevant and it was brought back to life. I think that posting on an old topic is alright if it is still useful, like this topic, if it is over a month old but someone gets a new avatar and you want to rate it, what the hell is the use in making a new topic rather than just bringing this one back to life again?

You can gather opinions as much as you want, the rule isn't getting changed. If that thought has ever crossed your mind, stamp it out now.

I think the current system is fine, obviously. However, bumping IS allowed already in certain areas. I.e. Forum Games and Arcade.

I think rules on bumping have no point.
