| This is a personal contest with only two debaters. If you are not myself or Ein, refrain from developing the debate by adding posts of you're own. You are allowed though to make side bets in this topic and give out rep and agree or disagree.
TOPIC: Tobacco Legalization DEBATERS: EINSTEINIAN and WHATIF LENGTH: Until both have said what they needed to say.
LEGAL SIDE: WHATIF ILLEGAL SIDE: EIN
Since i have chosen the topic and ein has chosen the sides i will go first, seeing as it gives him an advantage.

| Ah, gotcha. Well, to make an opening statement, there are few benefits to tobacco. Hence, why should it be legal?? |

| Just because there are little benefits doesnt mean it should be illegal. There are little benefits to those Groovy Girl dolls. |

| To start it off. Tobacco companies are on the most important variables in trade and connection between countries, including alcohol.
Certain American tobacco companies make as much as 60 billion dollars per year. If tobacco were made illegal our recession would become a depression. Stock markets would face a crash and millions of people would be out of a job. |

| Tabacco is a free choice. Just like going in the army, voting, drinking, driving and mostly everything else in America is a free choice. |

| Can we make it so no one else can post here besides us? Also, I understand the choice part, but you would save more lives than would cost the economy in dollars. |

| Yeah, only me and Ein can post here starting NOW
lol, but would you? If tobacco becomes illegal we get thrown in a depression. The exchange of the USD would drop by whole cents and over half a million americans will be thrown out of a job. Not too mention other companies that get money from the tobacco industry. Like this America would have more people on the streets, meaning more muck, meaning unsafe living conditions, meaning illness and death.
Free choice is better than that scenario. |

| Yeah, but would you rather have something we can pull out of or have 435,000 people dying per year? |

| There are about 22 million unemployed Americans since March. We throw away another two million adding up to 24 million. Plus the lack of money flow that will come around, so how will you pull us out of that? |

| I propose keeping tobacco legal until we get back into the high point of the business cycle: http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/images/wagner_17_10_07a.gif We are in the very beginnings of the expansion phase. Keep in mind this cycle takes around 10-20 years to go through one complete cycle, so we are probably a solid 5-8 years away from being at the high point of recovery. Then perhaps we can introduce the banning of tobacco products to start the necessary recession. |

| Oh, so you're proposing to keep tobacco legal until we are at a high point. When we are at that high point, ban tobacco so we go BACK into a recession and wait another 20 years?
That doesn't sound like a very good idea. |

| Well, my theory is that it would lessen the negative economic impact of banning tobacco. |

| In fact the opposite. Peoples hopes would just be coming up when BAM, tobacco banned, back to the recession. |
