| Zune Music Player Link to this product: http://www.zune.net/en-US/ The Zune Music Player, manufactured by Microsoft Corporation, is a music player that is capable of storing and playing music, movies and other multimedia content. Newer versions of the Zune can access the internet, much like newer cellphones.
Specifications of the Zune include: Memory amounts of 4, 8, 16 and 32GB flash drives and 30, 80, and 120 GB hard drives. Screen sizes range from 1.8 to 3.3 inches. Tocuhpads include circular pads found on most iPods.
The Zune allows users to view files as well, enhancing it's capablities. Considering the modest price of the Zune ($79.99 to #269.99) you can get a good piece of technology. It compares to a mini computer without the phone capabilities. I will primarily review the Zune HD, as it is the newest version of the Zune, released on September 15, 2009. The overall appearance of the Zune at first glance is appealing to those who like color. The Zune HD comes in colors inculding black, platinum, red, blue, green, purple and magenta. For the newest version of the Zune, navigation is by a touch screen, useful for those that want to hold it by one hand. However, these touchscreens wear out quicker than circular directional pads. The memory included on the newer Zune in music/viedo terms is 33 hours of music are held, as well as 8.5 hours of video. Accessories that come with the Zune include multiple charging the devices for on-the-go users, inculding a car charger. An Fm transmitter is included, along with headphones and a USB data cable for transferring files from a computer to the device. Other accessories include items for protection of the Zune, including a glass screnn, and hardened/cushioned material in the case. Carrying cases including standard issue (included with the purchase of the Zune), armband type and belt clip (both purchased seperately). Replacement parts for Zune HD that are currently avaliable include batteries and hard drives. Overall, the only issue I can see with the Zune is the lack of a phone, with really isn't a bad thing, but rather a choice of the manufacturer. Other than that, it is a reliable music/multimedia device that would satisfy the demands of anyone seeking a affordable device like it.
