| First off, if you want to know what the Simpsons is, click here: http://www.fujiplanet.net/review-archives-f15/review-the-simpsons-t2285.htmThe Simpsons Movie The Simpsons movie, Summary: The Simpsons is an unbelievable collection of humor, invention and insight, an achievement that some say displays the purest enactments of our glories and failings as a nation ever had. The Simpsons Movie is, well, a movie. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a very funny movie, loaded with dumb jokes that are often as funny as the clever ones, and full of the generous, good-natured humor that is the show’s enduring signature. Main Review: | Spoiler: | | | From the very start, when Ralph Wiggum stands inside the 20th Century Fox logo and sings along with the company jingle, to the last frames of the closing credits, “The Simpsons Movie” provides plenty of amusement for both casual fans and hard-core followers. It is not better than the best episodes, but it is at least as good as most. Instead of trying to top The Simpsons series or sum it all up, the film’s director, David Silverman (whose association with the series goes back to the days of “The Tracey Ullman Show”) and the writers (who among them have at least a century’s worth of experience on the show) take advantage of the opportunity to go wider and longer. The wide movie-theater screen turns out to be the ideal way to appreciate the small-screen, small-town paradise that is Springfield. In a variation on the show’s opening sequence, we swoop through the town, seeing it from new angles and appreciating its history and beauty anew.
There are also crowd scenes on a scale rarely attempted on television, which compensate somewhat for the little screen time given some of the secondary characters. Everyone has a little screen time, thank goodness, but for my taste there was too much Flanders and not enough Krusty. I will say that the “Itchy and Scratchy” movie at the beginning is pure genius, though.
This movie has great jokes which include Bart’s full frontal nudity and classic Homer and Marge’s bedroom scene and the bomb-defusing robot and the many hilarious acts that made me laugh until I cried. Instead, I’ll just spoil the plot: Homer does something really stupid. Also, Lisa develops a crush, Bart gets in trouble and Marge expresses concern and disapproval. Sorry. Homer’s main screw-up is not necessarily more or less idiotic than anything he’s done before. (All I’ll say is that it involves a pig.) The consequences, though, are proportionate to what you might expect from a summer blockbuster action movie. That is, they involve Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has been elected president of the United States; the elite attack forces of the Environmental Protection Agency; and the near-destruction of Springfield. Also motorcycles.
Now, this movie really was another Simpsons classic. It had jam-packed jokes that make me laugh every time I see them, and include most of the Simpson's classic characters. It also introduces some new characters, such as Lisa's love, Greenday, Russ Cargo the head of the EPA, and others. Also, it carries through with the classic Simpsons plot and crazy side stories. Overall it is a great, great movie that will be remembered for a long time. Still, I wouldve loved to see some of the other, smaller Simpsons characters that make the show what it is today, like the Comic Book Guy. Nonetheless, it is a classic that is a must-see for any American or worldwide Simpsons fan. |
Lol, this took me 2 days.
Enjoy! |
