| The Simpsons Main Review: The Simpsons is hands-down the best in the business. It is the most popular animated series ever, and has earned its place in history. The Simpsons is comedic gold, and a great-watch for your lazy Sunday afternoons. Nothing can beat The Simpsons. | Spoiler: | | | Created by Matt Groening and first aired on December 17, 1989, the Simpsons, which first aired on FOX, has become the most popular prime-time cartoon series on television and is FOX's most successful series ever. It is America's favorite comedy. Today, everybody knows about the Simpsons. The show has been around forever, and rightfully so. The Simpsons began as a short 1 minuted cartoon originally made as a filler for the Tracey Ullman Show. The executive producers of that series, James L. Brooks and Sam Simon decided that these characters could support a half hour series. Just look at what has happened since then. The Simpsons took off immediately, and gained popularity quick. Over its 21 seasons, its popularity has not decreased. What has kept it alive is its consistently funny plot and an excellent infusion of good jokes at a constant flow. The series has earned its place in history, becoming the longest-running sitcom on television and the longest-running primetime animated series in television history. To date, it has received 18 Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, Golden Globe nomination, 16 Annie Awards, as well as a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame among many other awards and nominations. The Simpsons is the best-of-the-best. It has the best jokes, best setting, best characters, best plot, and best story lines. It is a classic in itself and has many famous, iconic episodes. Nothing can compare with The Simpsons, the best show on television. |
Enjoy. :) |

| Good review Shushi, but did you know that the Simpsons were created by Harvard professors who wanted to paint the average American life into a cartoon ?
My Social Studies teacher told my class that.
Cool, huh ? |

Actually, those were the people that wanted to make it a show/put it on tv. The actual creator created it while in school. I believe he created the characters while doodling during class in college. |

| The link works fine for me. Heres what it says: | Spoiler: | | | A group of impish friends and the "perfect" television families of the 1960s inspired Matt Groening to create The Simpsons. The celebrated cartoonist, who began his working life as a journalist freelancing for rock 'n' roll magazines, said he used to only doodle on the side. "In school, I'd draw when I was supposed to be paying attention to my life. And I spent way to much time watching television. I had to become a cartoonist. "He (Bart) is a combination of me and all my boyhood friends ... at our worst, all together. We really were that bad. I wasn't bad myself. I was pretty good. But if you put me at my worst with my friends at their worst, I guess you'd come up with Bart. "And the Simpson family, is a combination of my family, and the families I gre up with, watching on TV. It was a time when television families were all cookies and milk, no fights, no divorces. "The families on TV were how I wished families would act. But in life, no one's ever measured up. I had this theory that if you made a family people would feel superior to, they would feel better. "Married With Children seems far worse that The Simpsons though. They really seem to hate each other. When I watch, it's mainly in awe that they can get away with it." But there were other inspirations for the cartoonist. "When I was a kid, there were no cartoons on at night. I thought if I had a chance of getting an animated TV show on at night, I knew kids would watch, especially if it was even mildly funny." Groening came up with 13 episodes of The Simpsons in 1990, and now, six years later, he is comfortable with the knowledge that Bart and his family have "settled into a steady city groove". "And fans need not worry about The Simpsons ever becoming middle class. "I have had a ton of experiences to keep them from repeating themselves." Groening said. |
